Finally my Windmill Mechanical Amplifier working

The blue metal strips will keep
the frame to the ground.
The Mechanical Amplifier that I designed on my own 4 months back, fabricated in Pune and sent across to My farm 800 kilometers away is finally working.  The following are the advantages.

a) The ABS (Poldaw) windmill has a freedom of 10 cms (3.5 inches) verticle movement. This need to be amplified to exploit the foot valve cylinder that has over 20 inches freedom so that more water will come. This apparattus that I have designed works like a cantilever to expand this movement (energy). Presently we get 3000 to 5000 liters of water per day. This will become 20,000 to 30,000 liters per day. Already we are seeing early results even without adjusting further.

b) This will isolate windmill from underground pipe/rod assembly. So that we can work in deep well bore without stopping the windmill.

c) The twist and turn of the windpump rotor will not affect and unscrew the borewell rods anymore. Minimum repair and re-fix.

d) This will hold the weight of central rod assembly. Thus windpump is relieved of pulling the entire weight for every stroke. This is achieved by hanging the rod on moving frame and counter weight at other end of cantilever.   I want windpump to become completly free so that is runs smoothly.

Just to fix the frame on the ground has taken a month.   The holes that I made on the frame did not match the already existing bolts near the bore well.  Some measurement went wrong.  Subbu,
Kandhan and his friend Paramu could not think of an alternate solution.    There were actually so many alternate solutions available.   But they thought of the most difficult one,   and kept postponing executing it because they have to carry the heavy frame to the welding machine in another town. I dismissed their ideas.

Finally I have to  intervene and the provide a simple solution.   Refer the photograph.  I just ask them to put a strip of metal over the Bolt we keep the frame anchored to the ground and it worked.
Even though I had taken care of sending all the ingredients by packing in wooden box,  they misplaced a few and was searching for it later. This  was due to delay in installation.  Other times,  they were doing everything very wrongly even though I had earlier posted a demonstration Video with myself explaining everything in vernacular.

They misplaced the video message in WhatsApp.     Finally everything is in place.  Minor adjustments here and there are still required. But water is coming.  Subbu had taken pains in the last 2 days to mend the pipe, fittings and actually worked very hard.  Only the counter weight is still not properly placed.  Subbu was reluctant to add weight. When forced, he said he will hang a lorry tyre. I got wild and ridiculed his thinking process itself. Suggested him to hang sand bag.

But the windmill mis-behaved. It threw the weight out. Some clamps came down heavily.  Luckily there is no injury. I need to investigate why it did not take counter weight.  I think it is because of speed of windpump that there are unnecessary jerks in its movement.     I asked for clear video. But subbu is not an ace shooter. The photos he sent were not that useful.

Rest in pictures.

Atlast the water. 3/4 inch pipe full of water.  This will be diverted to overhead tank
installation in progress.

Farm Update 31st May, 2017

I was speaking to Subbu today.  In fact I speak every day or alternate days. I have given free rein to irrigate the land as much as possible and never mind about fuel cost.  It has given results. These are snaps sent by him last week. What is the message in all these images ?   That the plants are sprouting new leafs.  They are responding to water.

Coming to daily chores,  Kandan is still taking rest. Subbu is managing plucking flowers with one more helping hand - Sumati a temp staff.  Today yield is below half kg.  I think it is fluctuating. He was talking at length about providing some nutrition. We have never given any manure for the past year or so.  Now is the time. We have planned to manure individual plants as well as the entire farm with 6 tractor loads.  Each will cost INR 1500/-. Plus 200/- for loading off loading and distributing it.  Let me see how best we can do this subject to money constraint.

The other thing is Subbu had successfully moved the Generator into its own room that was specially constructed last month. Though they (local mason) have made a mistake of not providing any opening anywhere resulting in heat buildup. I asked Subbu to make large windows at Knee height in opposite walls. And cover with grills.    Otherwise generator is secure now.

Now a new problem. Earlier Kandan would dare not touch the generator. Now he is not even coming anywhere near the room itself.  So scared !.  What to do ?

Farm in Visuals 18-Apr-2017

Now that the water is available atleast through diesal generator, the farm is now relieved temperorily from starvation. People are visibly happy.  We must have burned atleast 30 liters by now at INR 55/liter, but satisfied. Atleast works out much cheaper than water tanker.

Land is getting prepared in patches for cultivation. The cement tank that was not used for all these days is now filled with water.  Paramu I was told was swimming in the tank. Good.

Kandan is scared to go near the Generator. That is his problem. He fears technology. he will not start the generator himself through the starter handle. He fears the noise, current and vibration.  Sometime he even fears Jeep, officers and strangers. Some time back when Electricity board officials visited he ran away from the farm (ha ha...) Subbu has tough time.

Subbu would go on leave for a week in first week of May to drop his family in in-laws place. I booked ticket for him. I will be visiting the farm same time with my family. Perhaps we may meet on last day 7th.

Today an awesome experiment was done. The redbanana bunch of 7.5 KG was packed and sent to Chennai - "Restore" an Organic Store. Earlier i wanted it to be sent to myself in Pune. But changed plans. Let me sell it in a professional store. This store is run by Ananta Sayanan and team. He introduced to Gopi who is coordinating for transport of vegetables from organic farmers.  Yesterday I set a concall with Subbu and Gopi. We agreed we will send this by courier @ 45/- kg to Chennai on experimental basis. It works out to be Rs. 350 for 30 Red bananas.  Comes out Rs. 10/- per banana for transport and is very costly. But worth experimenting. Next time around Gopi advised us to send by public transport - state bus and promised he will collect it at Koyambedu bus stand twice a week.

Rest in pictures that Subbu sent.  He has installed whats'up on his smart phone. But donot know how to handle it. Just installed.

Jasmine

JCB at work to dig hole for planting the nursary purchase that we did 2 months back.
Due to water scarcity this was in safe keeping away from farm.

Sapota trees have grown in size

Well, the generator that is saving us now. Pretty used one. But good condition.

Jasmine not flowering enough. Total 200 grams only. Due to water scarcity.
Now we need to increase the yield.

Subbu had imported mud from nearby pond for preparing pits for planting

The panel board that Subbu had prepared.  The ammeter is important. After starting
the generator they have to wait for current to attain high.

The cement tank is getting filled.

What is the construction behind ? I am surprised.  It must be the half finished multipurpose
nursary, workshop and workplace.
